Day 7: London – Top of the World

We slept in a little bit this morning then had a good breakfast in the hotel lounge. Walked to the nearby London Eye and went for a ride. The London Eye is a giant bicycle wheel with glass capsules that makes one revolution every 30 minutes and gives wonderful views over London. It was an exceptionally clear day and we had amazing views all the way to Wembley stadium. We then watched a few street performers on the river walk before going on a river cruise. Our guide was wonderful and funny telling what we were passing.

After the river cruise we hopped a cab to Covent Gardens and had lunch at Shake Shack. Kristen had told me they were opening a branch in London this summer and their food was close to the food at In-N-Out Burger. Since we hadn’t been to NYC to try it out we took advantage of the one in London. It did not disappoint! Thanks Kristen!!! Street performers in Covent Garden today too, so walked around a bit here enjoying a sunny day in London along with thousands of others.

We then went to the British Museum to see the Holy Thorn Reliquary, but unfortunately that room was closed today so we went back to the hotel for afternoon tea and a little rest. We then went to Westminster Abby for their 5:45 organ concert. A lot of streets were closed today for a huge bicycle race. Then it was back to the hotel for dinner and we are now off to bed because we have to catch a ride to Stonehenge at 3 am tomorrow.

NOTE: Tomorrow (Monday) we should be at The Abby Road crossing made famous by the Beatle album cover around 10:15-10:45 am London time/5:15 to 5:45 am Tennessee time, if you are up and want to check out the webcam
