Day 13: Spean Bridge to Kirriemuir: Castles, Nessie, Forts, Heather, Heather,Heather

We departed Spean Bridge this morning and drove the length of Loch Ness with no sign of Nessie in sight! We did enjoy a stop at Urquhart Castle and then we went to Fort George where the Celebration of the Centuries was taking place. They had tents/exhibitions set up for each era in history from Roman times to modern day soldiers and demonstrations in the center field happening.

After leaving Fort George we traveled through half of the back roads in the eastern highlands to reach our B&B for the next 2 nights. The scenery was different from any we have ever encountered. We drove for 3 hours through thousands and thousands of mountainous acres with heather in bloom as far as you could see the whole time. We reached our B&B around 6 pm and had dinner there which was very good.
