Brian and Joy got up pretty early this morning and went to a little pastry shop to get breakfast; sugar crusted donuts, chocolate nutella donuts, croissants, on and on it went…. Also stopped by a coffee shop and Brian tried some Italian coffee, it was really, really strong (in his opinion) but it was exactly how Tim likes it, haha. After getting ready, we got on a bus and went to the town of Amalfi . It was amazing how they live all stacked up on the sides of the cliffs. We got some good pics of it on the way there. We went into a church that had the remains of the Apostle Andrew. It was so heavily decorated with sculptures, marble, and art work. We even saw mosaic tiles covered in gold just for decorations. We took a heck of a bus trip back that seemed like we drove all the way around the island the wrong way just to get back to where we were in Sorrento . It made a couple of us sick as a dog constantly going turns and hairpin turns on those extremely winding roads. It’s interesting to see all the different cars they have here. My favorites are the super nice Alfa Romeo sedans and the little bitty fiat cars. Those fiats would surely be like driving a go-cart.
Here are a few pictures from our time in Sorrrento:
Hi to all,
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures, especially Joe and his gelato. Glad you're having a great time although it seems that Joy and Tim have slowed down a bit with their sightseeing which surprises me. It sounds like you guys even have time for bathroom breaks which is hard to do with Joy's tight schedules. I love you Joy.
I just got an email from Princess regarding the new cruise I booked and as of Jan 15, 2012 they will no longer allow smoking in staterooms and balconies so I thought I'd be the one to break the news. There will be sections on the ship where you can go.
I was glad to see the pictures from the church as I would never adventure all those steps so thanks for showing me what I've missed.
Keep on enjoying and be well and safe.
Love,
G
